DIET TIPS TO PREVENT KIDNEY STONES
Kidney stones are the hard mass of crystals that arw formed in kidneys and can also be formed in ureter ,bladder ,urethra these crystals are formed by mineral compounds that is sodium calcium oxalate uric acid phosphate increased level of this minerals crystallise together forming kidney stones.
Not maintaining proper diet ,excess body weight ,supplementation and some of the medications are the causes of kidney stones.
Symptoms:-
- Pain in lower abdomen this pain might get evere with the time
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- Dysuria (burning sensation while urinating)
- Drink more water - fluids specially water helps to dilute the chemical that form stones . At least 12 glasses of water should be consumed in a day.
- Eating Calcium - The mistake that most of the people do is they cut down on calcium completely. Decrease in oxygen level can increase the oxalates level best sources of calcium are milk, yoghurt, cottage cheese, legumes tofu, dark green vegetables ,nuts, seeds. Vitamin D helps the body in better absorption of calcium fishes egg yolks and cheese are the sources of vitamin D.
- Try to lessen food that contains oxalates. Take Calcium oxalate combine so that the oxalates can be combined to calcium before it reaches the kidney
- Increase the citrus intake - increasing the Citrus intake helps to reduce and block kidney stones. Lemons grapes oranges are some of the best citrus fruits.
- Watery fruit & vegetables cucumber watermelon and lettuce helps in making the urine less acidic which leads to proper urination and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
- Use less salt - most of the salts consists of sodium high sodium levels in body can decrease the calcium buildup in urine which further leads to kidney stones fast foods like pizza, burger ,sandwiches are generally high in sodium some of the vegetable are also high in sodium such as potatoes and tomato.
- Try to eat less Animal based protein - animal based protein sources like red meat, chicken, fishes increases the formation of uric acid. Since proteins are the major components of body that helps in muscle growth. Some of the best alternatives for proteins are milk, eggs ,soybeans, legumes cereals.
- Colas do not drink colas as it contains phosphate which can promote the formation of kidney stone.
